How Mike Reese Lives United

Mike ReeseMike Reese's philosophy is centered on helping others and being a part of the change that we want to see in our community. He understands we are strongest when we Live United.

Throughout his life, Mike has volunteered with and supported his church and nonprofits, including United Way. Mike, a retired City of Reading employee, has served in various roles with United Way, including company coordinator, allocations team member and on the board of directors. When Mike created his will he wanted to make sure that he continued his support by including United Way as a beneficiary. "I've given my dimes and dollars to United Way during my life, and I wanted to have a consistency of sorts as the final chapter," says Mike.

From his youth as a "YMCA kid", as he calls himself, to today as he enjoys retirement, he values how United Way programs and initiatives help children and families from all walks of life in all types of circumstances. As a life-long resident of Reading, he wanted to extend and continue his commitment to Berks County through his will.

"Giving back to the community is the rent I pay to civilization, and to society," Mike adds. "My parents and family have always instilled that core belief."He encourages others to include United Way into their planned giving efforts to support the future of the community. "United Way depends on people who give," he explains, "and everyone has the responsibility to give back to the community in some way."
